Sarah is a Court Solicitor at Barton & Hendry who deals with all aspects of civil litigation and Criminal Defence. She handles a diverse caseload covering all aspects of family and matrimonial law, personal injury, employment and criminal defence matters.
Sarah graduated from Dundee University in 2006 and thereafter completed her Diploma in Legal Practice before embarking on a traineeship with a Personal Injury Firm. During the course she was involved in all aspects of Personal Injury including road traffic accidents, accidents at work and local authority claims.
During her time with Barton & Hendry she has continued to develop her personal injury caseload and bring cases to a successful conclusion for clients. Sarah is now involved in aspects of family law and developed an in depth knowledge of criminal law and is regular instructed as a defence agent.
Graduated in BA Law, LLB and Diploma in Legal Practice from University of Strathclyde. Ziquia qualified as a solicitor in 2007 and was appointed as a Notary Public. She specialised in family law and civil litigation initially in Airdrie. Ziquia joined the firm as our experienced civil and family solicitor.
Ziquia has a special interest in family law, child law, in particular children’s referrals, human rights, public law and immigration matters. She has also provided advice to various organisations, for example charity groups and advocacy organisations in these matters. Has a publication in relation to race discrimination legislation. Regularly appears in Sheriff Courts representing clients.
Ziquia has substantial experience in the above cases and is well known for her approach in moving cases along efficiently, as well as, keeping client’s informed at all stages. Legal advice is provided and explained in plain English so that client’s are clearly aware of their legal position.
Theresa Beattie is the Private Client Solicitor within Barton & Hendry. Theresa commenced her legal traineeship at Barton & Hendry in 2007 and is now a fully qualified Solicitor with 2 years post qualification experience. Her areas of work and interests include the administration of estates, preparation of wills, Powers of attorney, residential conveyancing and adults with incapacity law.
Theresa also deals with aspects of care for the elderly, in particular preserving assets in the event of long term residential or nursing care. She has vast experience in dealing with the Adults with Incapacity legislation in particular guardianship and intervention orders.
Eric is the founder Partner of the Firm and qualified in 1980. He set up the firm on his own in 1982 and was subsequently joined in 1983 by Maxwell Hendry. He has experience in Residential and Commercial Property Law, Commercial Disputes and Private Client matters of all kinds including Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney and Guardianships. He has considerable experience of Commercial Leasing and with Business Purchases and Sales.
Apart from his business interests, Eric has maintained a keen interest in sport and tries to keep fit despite his advancing years. He is an avid reader of all types of literature and prior to taking up law obtained an Honours Degree in History and English Literature at Glasgow University and seriously considered an academic career in those areas. He has recently taken up cookery as an additional interest to occupy the very little amount of spare time that he has.
Heather Barton is the wife of our Senior Partner and runs our Estate Agency Department and has done so for in excess of ten years.
